Opportunity House

With an eye toward the future, Daybreak is
building Opportunity House. The new center
will be located at 605 S. Patterson Boulevard
in downtown Dayton.

Close to Sinclair Community College, the
Job Center, and many other services, the site
is ideally suited for our youth.
The new
building will hold Daybreak’s emergency
shelter and provide 24 apartments for older
teens. Here they can learn the life skills required for a stable adulthood. Over 500
youth per year will live at Opportunity House, including babies and toddlers of the young
mothers we serve. Private counseling rooms, training space, and recreational areas are
also planned.

Said Linda Kramer, Daybreak’s Executive Director, “Our current facility dates back not to the previous century, but the one before that. Bathroom facilities are inadequate, recreational space is limited, and appropriate counseling rooms are non-existent. It’s time to create a place where today’s kids can be served by today’s standards.”
