Options for Giving

Employer Matching Gifts
Will your employer match your gift? Do you want to get your company involved
in making a difference for Daybreak’s youth? Many corporations match gifts made
by employees to charitable institutions. Some match the gifts of employee spouses
and retired employees as well. Please contact your company’s Human Resources
Department for policies regarding matching gifts.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Giving a gift in memory or honor of someone serves a two-fold purpose. You

commemorate a special person and honor their life with a gift hope for a youth suffering
today. A personal note will be sent by Daybreak to the honored person(s) acknowledging

the tribute gift. To make a tax-deductible contribution in memory of someone, or to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, wedding, or other significant event, please click the DONATE NOW button to be directed to a

secure site where you’ll be able to use your MasterCard, Visa or American Express.

Stocks or Security

No matter which tax bracket you are in, donating appreciated stock makes sense. The tax benefits for a donor who owns stocks that have increased in value are:

  • Avoid capital gains tax upon transfer to Daybreak.
  • Receive an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock.
  • Depending on your tax bracket and the value of the gift, your tax deduction might be able to be
    carried over several years.

Our Development Department can offer additional information about a gift of stock or securities.

Planned Gifts

A planned gift allows a donor to contribute to Daybreak over a period of years as part of an estate plan. Properly designed plans can help assure long-term funding for Daybreak’s mission-directed operations while donors benefit from tax breaks, a regular income stream, or return of principal. These gifts, as defined below, are made in the form of:

  • Trusts – Assets held in a managed fund that provides a percentage of interest income to the donor,
Daybreak, and final distribution of principal to a beneficiary upon the donor’s death.
  • Bequests – Gifts of personal property established in a will.
  • Endowments – Major gifts held in a managed fund providing long-term security and interest income for Daybreak.

Foundations provide crucial support! Investments from foundations have enabled us to be pioneers in developing new ways to reach populations of youth, such as expanding youth shelter services to 18-year-olds who are at risk and vulnerable in adult homeless shelters. To learn more about how your foundation can support the growth of Daybreak, please contact our Development Department.
