Safe Shelter
Daybreak’s shelter on Patterson Boulevard provides emergency housing, food,
and clothing for runaway and homeless youth ages 10 to 18. During their stay youth are also offered:
- Individual, family, and group counseling
- Follow-up care and contact after they leave the shelter
- Life-skills education and programs that promote safe and healthy behavior
- Educational support
Outreach
Safe Place: Over 300 local businesses and organizations display yellow Safe Place signs
and provide a place for youth in crisis to go and wait for transportation
to Daybreak's shelter.
Street Outreach: Daybreak staff help youth living on the streets move to a safe environment.
Violence Free Youth: Daybreak staff provide youth in schools and community sites
with presentations focusing on violence prevention, anger management,
and healthy dating relationships.
Housing
Daybreak’s housing program for older youth ages 18 to 21 helps
them become self-sufficient and productive members of our community by providing:
- Housing
- Counseling
- Educational support and tutoring
- Employment-readiness and life-skills training
- Two years of follow-up
